Picnic, 1897 - Lovely scene of beauties enjoying a picnic to view the cherry blossoms. In the center, a beauty prepares to break off a flowering branch as the girl at left holds out her hands to catch the falling petals. At right, an older girl and a woman kneel on a red orange mat, a lacquer bento box containing refreshments nearby. Kimono are draped over a red cord tied to the tree to provide privacy for the group. A charming design, beautifully colored and detailed, with burnishing on two of the women's hair.
