Brocades of the Capital - Handsome design from Kogyo's "Brocades of the Capital" (Miyako no nishiki), a rarely seen series of twelve prints depicting a variety of subjects. Departing from his traditional Noh subjects, this group includes beauties and other performances, such as marionettes, kabuki, and a wind ensemble, along with festival celebrations. Several prints from the series are illustrated in the 2010 book "The Beauty of Silence: Japanese No & Nature Prints by Tsukioka Kogyo, 1869 - 1967." An interesting complement to Kogyo's more well-known Noh series.
