Ninnaji Temple Gate in Snow

Fuji Arts' Winter Shin-hanga Exhibition

Nisaburo Ito - Born in Kyoto in 1910, shin-hanga artist Nisaburo Ito created many woodblock prints of flowers, landscapes, and noted shrines and temples around his hometown. Some of his designs reflect his study of nihonga or traditional Japanese painting, while others take on a more modern expression. His floral and nature subjects are beautifully rendered with wonderful attention to detail and color. His attractive prints are a lovely choice to collect or display.

Ninnaji Temple Gate in Snow - Handsome winter view of the gate at Ninnaji Temple in Kyoto. Snow falls serenely over the deserted scene, a large pine tree framing the carefully detailed structure. Beautiful soft shading and attractive detail in this quiet, contemplative landscape. Published by Uchida on watermarked paper.
