Hunting in a River, 1907 - Charming scene of boys playing on an earth-covered bridge and fishing in the stream below. A boy on the bridge holds a rope tied to a rolling toy horse, watching as his companions use a net and a basket to fish. Another boy leans over the edge of the bridge with a small bucket in hand. Beautifully detailed with embossing on the white tunic and the blue and white kimono. Yamamoto Shoun studied Kano school and nanga painting, and also worked as an illustrator in Tokyo for a magazine about popular sights in the city. His works are rarely seen on the market.
