Couple beneath a Blossoming Plum Tree, 1856

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a couple beneath a blossoming plum tree. At left, the man tilts his head to side, grinning as he looks out of the corners of his eyes, a finger to his cheek. The beauty smiles back at him over her shoulder as she holds the ends of a cloth draped over her shoulder. She wears a striped kimono bordered with flowers and trimmed with a maple leave pattern over a red under robe, tied with a violet obi. A tobacco set rests on a bench behind the pair. Nice expressive figures in an attractive outdoor setting.

Image Size - 14" x 19"
