Sakakibara Yasumasa and Toyotomi Hideyoshi on Mt. Komaki by Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Original Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) Japanese Woodblock Print
Sakakibara Yasumasa and Toyotomi Hideyoshi on Mt. Komaki

Comments - Incredible image from the Battle of Komaki in 1584 of Sakakibara Yasumasa and Toyotomi Hideyoshi no horseback. In the center, Yasumasa charges down a slope at full speed as he chases his enemy. His personal standard flying from his back, he grasps his spear with both hands and stares straight ahead, focused on the confrontation ahead of him. Wearing a horned battle helmet, Hideyoshi races away at left, waving a baton above his head. Fantastic detail in the armor, weapons, and horse equipment, including touches of burnishing. A dynamic composition with a wonderful sense of movement. A great samurai subject.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28 1/8" + margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Horizontal centerfold. Slight thinning and small loss at edge, a few small holes, repaired. Slight soiling and ink bleeding, a few creases and small marks. Please see photos for details.
