Shelter from a Sudden Shower

A Fine Triptych Reprint Collection

Shelter from a Sudden Shower - Beautifully detailed triptych showing a group of travelers seeking shelter under a large pine tree during a sudden rain storm. At right, a pair of beauties and a young man dash towards the tree, the women sharing an umbrella and the man looking up at the yellowish sky. At left, a mother cradles a baby against her chest as she holds the hand of her crying son, who wipes his eyes. A vender kneels beside him, taking the opportunity to smoke a slender pipe, while a woman standing nearby presses her hand to her ears during the thunder. Rain slants across the landscape, blowing the grasses in the background. A wonderful scene from everyday life, rarely seen in reprint. This print was published by Kyoeido.
