Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of the courtesan Urazato entertaining her lover, Tokijiro in her private quarters. She tilts her head shyly as she bites on a cloth, watching her sweetheart out of the corners of her eyes. He stares back at her with a concerned frown as she stretches a towel between his hands. Urazato's employer has forbidden the beauty to see him, so they are taking a risk each time they meet. He wears a violet tie-dyed kimono patterned with peonies and butterflies and bordered with a black and gray interlocking geometric print. An alcove at left holds lacquer boxes with a floral arrangement in a basket on the wall above. An attractive design with a nicely detailed setting.
