The Empress Sightseeing at a Spring in Kyoto

Comments - Attractive image of the Meiji Empress and her ladies-in-waiting visiting Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto. In the center, a beauty leads the empress by the hand while another shelters her with an umbrella. The terraces behind them are dotted with blossoming cherry trees, and at right, three streams of spring water from the sacred Otowa-no-taki waterfall. Stone steps lead up the hillside to the main building with a veranda supported on tall posts. A charming design with attractive color and wonderful detail, with faint embossing in the white kimono collars.
