Comments - Great kabuki triptych of the angry samurai Okabe Rokuyata drawing his sword as he glares at a fellow warrior. He scowls as he hunches forward, his red stage makeup and flaring sideburns giving him an imposing appearance. He wears a fantastic outer kimono patterned with a winged dragon, and a purple hat. The other samurai holds a lacquer hat in his outstretched hand, carrying a sword upright. A courtesan watches anxiously from the right, clutching the edge of her obi and kimono sleeve. From left, the actors are Ichikawa, Bando Hikosaburo, and Onoe Kikugoro. Large expressive figures, beautifully colored with rich deep tones. A striking design.
