Fireflies on a Summer Night

Comments - Beautiful kabuki triptych showing a meeting taking place on a summer night. A beauty stands on a verandah, smiling shyly at a young samurai standing below. She tilts her head coyly, holding her fan to her chin. The warrior frowns back at her, holding a slender bamboo pole with both hands, his swords at his side. Another woman and a young girl watch the couple with interest from the right, the girl leaning forward eagerly. Fireflies glow in the gray evening sky, a full moon shining on the water below and gentle breezes blowing the graceful branches of a willow tree. A lovely subject, nicely detailed with delicate embossing on the fans and white kimono collar, and fine shading in the water and sky. Would make an attractive framed presentation.
