Kaiunbashi in Tokyo, 1876

Comments - Interesting view of the Kaiunbashi or Kaiun Bridge in Tokyo, with pedestrians sharing the roadway with rickshaws. Warehouses line the Sabaishi River, with boats moored along the embankment, and yellow clouds drift across the rooftops above. A tall building topped with a traditional roof ornament called a shachihoko, a fierce creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a carp, can be seen in the distance, with a light house rising above the treetops at left. Nicely detailed.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight thinning at corners, a few small holes, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling, small stain. Please see photos for details.
