Sato Masakiyo in Battle

Comments - Fantastic triptych depicting the great warrior Sato Masakiyo (Kato Kiyomasa) during a heated battle. Riding a black horse at center, he charges ahead, thrusting his pole arm at an enemy on a brown horse. His red cape flows over his back, and his fringed personal standard flutters above his head as he glares at his adversary, who counters his blow with his own spear. A volley of shots streaks across the sky amidst clouds of smoke tinged with purple. The battle rages all around, with warriors fighting on foot and on horseback, a chaos of weapons, banners, and standards. A great scene filled with energy and action. A fine choice for a samurai enthusiast.
