Original Kawai Gorota (1873 - 1957) Japanese Woodblock Print
Spring Evening

Comments - Beautiful shin-hanga design of a beauty strolling across a floor at night. The sleeve of her pale lavender outer kimono has slipped down, and she reaches for the fabric with slender fingers as the robe trails onto the floor behind her. One bare foot peeps out from her light blue under robe, her chin tilted proudly upward, showing off the graceful line of her delicate white throat. The background is rendered in subtle, swirling baren marks, adding a soft texture and a sense of depth that contrasts beautifully with the smooth tones of the garments. A lovely, large format woodblock that would make a stunning framed presentation.
