Comments - Charming Meiji era design from a series of prints based on paintings by earlier masters. A Meiji era artist redrew the images, which were published by Aoki Suzando around 1896. These delightful designs are filled with wonderful detail, showing villagers and fishermen at work, festival celebrations and outings, and scenes from courtly life. Finely drawn with lively color and touches of gold and silver metallic pigment, these images are a great look at early life in Japan.
