Copy of a Tosa School Picture Scroll, 1860 - Amusing scene of people taking part in an ink fight in a design based on a scroll painting from the Muromachi period Tosa School. At the bottom, two men on their knees dab ink on each other's faces. Just above them a fellow in a short blue coat gleefully slaps ink all over a nobleman's head, while an old woman attacks a seated monk with a long-handled brush. A great comic design with wonderfully expressive figures.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A few holes, repaired. Creasing, wrinkling, slight toning and soiling, rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
