Battle in the Snow

Comments - Fantastic depiction of a battle in a snowy courtyard, with samurai fighting with swords and spears. In the center, a young man in a wearing a black kimono tucked into green pants draws back his weapon above his head as he faces a group of enemies. At left, another warrior wearing a black chest plate over his purple kimono rushes forward, fallen opponents lying in the snow before him. The ground slopes down to a large pond or moat behind them, with building and rooftops in the distance. A lively scene with expressive figures, beautifully detailed with a spattering of hand-applied gofun (white pigment) to indicate falling snow.
