Sightseeing on the Sumida River

Comments - Beautiful Meiji era triptych of court ladies enjoying a walk along the bank of the Sumida River to view cherry blossoms. In the center, a young woman uses her fan to point out a crane flying over the water below. An attendant next to her holds a lacquer tray of writing supplies to create poem slips. The pink and white blossoms form a striking canopy overhead. A terrific scene of this traditional spring pastime, done with rich vibrant colors. Detailed with faint embossing on the white kimono collars.
