Original Edo era Japanese Woodblock Print
New Work of Fleeting Life along the Way

Comments - Amusing scene of men enjoying a picnic along a river, drinking and enjoying a meal as one man dances about, waving a fan. An overturned empty sake bottle suggests that they have been drinking for a while and perhaps celebrating a bit raucously. A beauty walking away at left tugs on the arm of one of the men, trying to drag him away. In the distance, two figures cross a bridge, and mountains fill the background with a castle visible on a distant hilltop. An interesting subject.
