Comments - Beautiful shin hanga image from the "Night Scenes" series by the Hasegawa/Nishinomiya Publisher. A ferry makes its way across the river carrying a single passenger, the boatman seen in bold silhouette as he mans the oar. The beauty sits holding a round fan in her hand, also in dark silhouette, while the boat is highlighted with gray to provide detail. A full moon glows softly above, a bridge and tree-lined banks in the distance, with a warm light coming from the windows at left. A striking design, nice shaded. Publisher's seal on reverse (see detail below).
