Smiling Beauty

Comments - Charming kabuki design of a smiling beauty seated in private quarters. She wears a beautiful kimono shaded from purple to lavender, patterned with circular floral motifs featuring irises, cherry blossoms, peonies, and morning glories. Her long hair is worn loose over her back in the style of the Heian era, and her eyebrows are shaved. Colorful draperies fill the background. A very attractive composition with lively color.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 9 3/8" x 14 1/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. A couple light spots. Wrinkle at bottom edge. Small loss in lower left margin.
