Meiji Emperor Reviewing Troops at Aoyama, 1889

Comments - Interesting scene of the Meiji Emperor reviewing troop at Aoyama. He sits astride a light tan horse at center, wearing a fine black uniform covered with medals and a red sash across the chest. Other officers on horseback wait behind him, while at left, a soldier on a brown horse carries a flag bearing the Meiji Imperial crest. Rows of troops stand at attention around the edge of the parade ground. The snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji can be seen in the distance at left. A nicely detailed design.
