Comments - Beautiful triptych showing a young noblewoman being escorted by a group of attendants on a visit to a shrine in spring. One woman leads her by the hand while another holds an umbrella overhead, a scroll suspended above the beauty's head. Two women lead the way carrying trunks over their shoulders, followed by a beauty carrying a standard protectively wrapped in fabric. More women and samurai follow behind, next to a young girl carrying an elegant lacquer box draped with cloth. Visitors watch the procession from the verandah of the shrine at upper left, the grounds filled with blossoming cherry trees. Wonderful detail in the elegant kimono fabrics, with faint embossed detail on the white collars. A lovely spring scene.
