Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauties Dancing, 1899

Comments - Rare, complete five-panel print depicting a large group of beauties dancing, accompanied by musicians playing drums, flutes, and shamisen. Dressed in matching black kimono bordered with cherry blossoms and maple leaves and tied with blue obi decorated with butterflies, the women hold folding fans near their faces as they gracefully perform. Beautifully detailed with silver mica on the black kimono, the blue obi, and the white kimono collars of the dancers. The first time we've seen this charming design.
