Teahouses and Beauties

Comments - Intriguing scene beauties arriving at two teahouses across from each other. At left, several women pause at the entrance to a courtyard, with stepping stones leading across the garden inside, filled with blossoming cherry trees and pines. Patrons can be seen through the upstairs windows, relaxing and enjoying a drink of sake, while a few women look down onto the street below. At right, a young girl gestures to a sign in the doorway, her companion stopping to chat with another woman. A Westerner rides in a rickshaw behind them, and a few rooftops poke up above the clouds in the distance, with Mt. Fuji towering above them. Blossoming cherry trees and pine A charming subject, nicely detailed and colored with fine bokashi shading in the sky.
