Enjoying a Meal, 1892 - Attractive scene of beauties enjoying a meal in an elegant interior. Black lacquer trays set with matching covered lacquer dishes and blue and white ceramic plates are set before the two seated women, with attendants bringing in additional trays. A large niche behind the beauties holds an ornate vase with a bonsai plum tree covered with pink blossoms and buds in front of a scroll of Mt. Fuji. Beautiful detail in the fine kimono and obi, including burnishing on the black robe, the black lacquer edge of the alcove, and the black frame of the screen, along with embossing in the white kimono trim. A charming subject from the daily life of upper-class ladies.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Horizontal folds in left panel. A couple small losses at edge, repaired. Creasing and wrinkling, a few stains. Please see photos for details.
