Comments - Handsome kabuki scene from a play about the sumo wrestler Inagawa Jirokichi, who faces a dilemma because he needs money to finish ransoming a courtesan from a teahouse for his supporter. If he is unable to raise the funds, he will lose his honor and embarrass his patron. At right, he sits staring into a mirror on a stand with an angry frown, his arms firmly folded across his chest. In the center, his wife looks back at him, a comb in one hand and the other held to her forehead. Outside the door at left, a rival wrestler eavesdrops, a worried expression on his face. The actors include Ichimura Uzaemon as the wife Arashi Kichisaburo as Jirokichi. Nice expressive figures.
