Bathing, 1959

Series; Creative Prints by Famous Modern Artists

Bathing, 1959 - Charming image of a woman in a bathhouse, patting the side of her face with a cloth as she kneels alongside a pool with water flowing into it from a trough at left. Maekawa Senpan's is best known for his series "Hot Spring Notes," which depicts the traditional Japanese custom of bathing at hot springs and bath houses. His woodblocks have a simple, folk art-like quality that is very appealing.
