Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Passage through Hakone Fan Print - Rare fan print design by Hiroshige showing travelers climbing a steep mountainside in Hakone, considered the most difficult stretch along the Tokaido Road. Two passengers ride in palanquins as bearers carry torches at the front and rear of the party, orange flames and smoke billowing up into the night sky. Smoke from another torch can be seen further down the hill. Beautiful shading in the silhouette of the mountains across the valley and the darkening sky. An incredible design rarely seen in reprint.
