Series; Yoshitoshi's Courageous Warriors

Endo Musha Morito Approaching Kesa Gozen's Bedroom - Dramatic depiction of the samurai Endo Musha Morito approaching the bedroom of his beloved, the beautiful Kesa Gozen. Endo became obsessed with Kesa Gozen, a happily married woman who rejected his advances. Afraid that Endo might harm her husband, she convinced him to murder her husband one night in their bedroom. She then cut off her hair and took her husband's place in the dark room, and Endo murdered her by mistake. He is shown here sliding open the door to her bedroom, his sword in hand, cautiously peering into the room. A shaft of orange light rises from the softly glowing lamp just inside the door. Wonderful detail in the architectural setting and furnishings. An intriguing depiction of this legendary story.
