Beauties in the Pleasure District, 1883

Comments - Terrific scene of beauties strolling through the pleasure district. They wear a tall wooden geta clogs and colorful outer kimono bordered with a variety of designs, including dogs playing, cranes in flight, and flowers. Behind them, an arched gate opens into the fenced courtyard of a brothel, with courtesans and guests looking down from the balconies of the upper stories. Wonderful architectural detail in the building, with vibrant color in the kimono and obi. An attractive Chikanobu design and a beautiful clean, crisp print.
