Sawamura Tanosuke as Aburaya Okon, 1863

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of Sawamura Tanosuke as the courtesan Aburaya Okon, whose sweetheart has become possessed by the bloodthirsty spirit of a sword. Here, holds out her hand in a stopping motion as the looks down with a wary expression. She wears a blue and white kimono with a bold tie-dyed pattern over a red under robe, a loose lock of hair framing her face and giving her a slightly disheveled appearance. Shoji panels line the walkway of the Aburaya House behind her, with red paper lanterns hanging from the eaves. An expressive figure in a nicely detailed setting.
