Dance Performance, 1878 - Attractive scene of beauties in a palace, with two young woman performing a dance on a red walkway overlooking a pond framed by blossoming cherry trees. In the foreground at left, a princess pauses to chat with a seated companion, her red kimono patterned with blossoms, the sleeves trimmed with bows. A cloth panel decorated with phoenixes hangs a left, with purple drapery overhead bearing the Imperial chrysanthemum crest. Nicely detailed. Includes accents of metallic pigment that have oxidized to a dark tone.
