Straw Sandel Maker by Hiyoshi Mamoru (active circa 1950s)

Original Hiyoshi Mamoru (active circa 1950s) Japanese Woodblock Print
Straw Sandel Maker

Comments - Attractive view inside the traditional home of a rural Japanese family. At left, the father is busy weaving sandals from rice straw. At right, the mother sews near the fire in the floor brazier, a steaming kettle hanging over the red flames. Out on the verandah a boy and girl bounce balls. Strings of drying persimmons hang from the eaves, silhouetted against the sliding shoji screens. A handsome design, wonderfully detailed. Published by Kyoto Hanga-in with publisher's seal in right margin.

Artist - Hiyoshi Mamoru (active circa 1950s)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning, a couple small marks in margin. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
