Visiting a Shrine, 1883 - Handsome view of a shrine, with visitors strolling about the grounds and enjoying the view from the verandah at left. A large black wooden ladder leads to the upper story of the building, propped up with extra supports. A man at lower right wears modern Western fashions, including striped pants and matching vest, a purple jacket, bowler hat, and can. The edge of a pagoda can be seen at upper right beyond the green treetops and blossoming cherry trees. An attractive design.
