The Legend of the Loyal Retainers - Handsome scene from Toyokuni III's 1847 series illustrating the famous tale of the 47 ronin, the "Chushingura." Beginning with the helmet inspection at the shrine and culminating in the laying of Moronao's head at Lord Hangan's tomb, Toyokuni III illustrates the story with great drama and wonderfully detailed settings, each design framed by the ronin's traditional black and white dogtooth border. A great choice for a collector interested in this classic tale of honor and revenge.
