Series; One Hundred Poems Explained by the Nurse

Poem by Kakinomoto no Hitomaro - Lovely Hokusai reprint from his "One Hundred Poems" series. Fishermen strain to hold a net against a rushing stream on a hillside, one man standing in the water and the others along the banks. A brushfire burns on the ground nearby, sending clouds of smoke skyward. Beautiful rich color in the background. The poem by featured poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro reads:

Oh, the foot-drawn trail

Of the mountain-pheasant's tail
Drooped like down-curved branch!
Through this long, long-dragging night
Must I lie in bed alone?

A striking Hokusai composition that would make a beautiful display.

Artist - Hokusai (1760 - 1849)

Image Size - 9 3/4" x 14 3/4" + margins as shown
