Lovers Parting - Beautiful image of the young samurai Soga Juro Sukenari saying farewell to his lover, Oiso no Tora, at the entrance of a fine home. He holds a woven hat in his hands as he looks over his shoulder one last time at the beauty standing under the blinds on the verandah. His expression is stoic as he contains his emotion at parting from his loved ones. Sadly, Jura will not return to his beloved. One of the famous Soga Brothers, Jura, and his brother Goro, successfully avenged their father's murder in 1193 by killing his assassin, but Jura was killed during the fight and Goro was executed. A small girl stands in the doorway, gesturing with her hands as delicate pink petals fall from the blossoming cherry tree overhead. Stars twinkle in the night sky and a stone bridge arches across a narrow stream flowing along the left. A beautiful and moving scene from this famous tale of honor and revenge, with fine color and detail, including embossing on the beauty's white kimono.
