Sawamura Tanosuke as the Spirit of Osen's Younger Sister, Onobu, 1885

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tanosuke as the spirit of Osen's younger sister, Onobu. She appears in a cloud of smoke against the night sky, smiling sweetly as she looks over her shoulder. She wears a blue violet kimono patterned with cherry blossoms and pink dots, with insets of the sleeves of a geometric print and flowers. Her hair is pulled back into a large bun, simply adorned with a red tie-dyed ribbon. A striking design.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + left margin as shown
