Series; Tales of the Floating World on Eastern Brocade, 1867 - 1868

Tales of the Floating World on Eastern Brocade - Dating from 1867 - 1868, this terrific early series by Yoshitoshi illustrates famous tales by a variety of storytellers. The stories are retold by Kanagaki Robun in text blocks that take the form of a book with the pages bent back. Yoshitoshi depicts the violence and drama of these popular narratives with wonderful realism and his characteristic attention to detail. Images from this early series are rarely seen on the market and are great choice for a Yoshitoshi enthusiast or a collector interested in Japanese folklore and legends.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Small loss at corner, repaired. A few creases, horizontal line where backing papers meet. Please see photos for details.
