Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Palace and Courtyard Kabuki Paper Model Set, 1907

Paper Model Prints - These entertaining prints are exceeding rare as they were designed to be cut and assembled into a paper model. As they were intended to be disassembled, the artists never signed these prints. These prints transform into scenes of castles and mansions, landscapes and classic interiors, samurai and fantastic creatures - they are incredible unique pieces and would make a terrific addition to a collection.

Comments - Wonderful complete, five panel paper model set illustrating a kabuki scene in a palace and courtyard. This colorful set includes many figures of noblemen and beauties, plus ladies-in-waiting wearing white kimono tucked into long red hakama pants. The extensive setting include a room in the palace with verandah and steps, along with the fences, shrubs, and flowering plants of the courtyard. A terrific uncut set with many intricate pieces.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)

Image Size - Each panel 14" x 9 1/4" + margins as shown
