Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Kabuki Confrontation Paper Model Set, 1894

Paper Model Prints - These entertaining prints are exceeding rare as they were designed to be cut and assembled into a paper model. As they were intended to be disassembled, the artists never signed these prints. These prints transform into scenes of castles and mansions, landscapes and classic interiors, samurai and fantastic creatures - they are incredible unique pieces and would make a terrific addition to a collection.

Comments - Handsome, complete three panel paper model set featuring a scene of a young warrior confronting a samurai on horseback near the foot of a bridge. The three panels feature additional samurai, along with an elderly couple, and a setting of a bridge flanked by willow trees and a small shop, with the river and landscape along the far shore. Nice expressive figures, detailed with touches of metallic silver pigment.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)

Image Size - Each panel 14" x 9 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. One small hole in top corner from previous string binding, as is common for paper model prints. A few creases at edges, small rubbed spot in margin. Please see photos for details.
