Dancer and Boy Drumming, 1848

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of the boy Innan Kazuma playing a drum as Otaka Tonomo dances, shaggy red wig tied under his chin with a cord. He hops on one foot as he stretches out one sleeve at his side, looking over his shoulder with a distraught grimace. The boy smiles as he taps out a rhythm with two drumsticks. behind the dancer, colorful tree peonies are placed atop brocade covered platforms. From left, the actors are Iwai Kumesaburo III and Nakamura Utaemon IV. Nice expressive figures.
