Ichikawa Danjuro as Worried Beauty, 1885

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro as a beauty looking out at the falling snow with a rather worried expression, her hand flung out before her in alarm. She wear a blue kimono patterned with tie-dyed cherry blossoms over two red under robes, a cluster of flowers atop her head. Snow has piled up into a drift along the edge of the porch, and a pagoda can be seen in the distance against the wintry gray sky. A handsome design with an attractive setting.
