Ronin in the Snow

Series; Twelve Kabuki Plays, 1952

Ronin in the Snow - Handsome scene from the classic kabuki play "Kanadehon Chushingura," which tells the tale of the 47 ronin. One of the ronin stands in the snow outside a palace, looking up as two women regard him from a window. He lowers his umbrella for a closer look as the beauties watch him with curiosity. Snow falls gently against the night sky and the graceful branches of a willow tree are covered with snow behind him. A striking night scene with beautiful embossing in the stonework of the building.
