Performing a Nunozarashi Dance

Comments - Interesting kabuki triptych of Hashiba Hideyoshi and a beauty watching a nunozarashi dance, performed using cloth streamers. The strips of cloth flow across the sky in graceful rippling folds, floating weightlessly in the as the performers wave their hands. At upper left, a chanter and two musicians playing shamisen sit atop a platform at the back of the stage. From left, the actors are Nakamura Fukusuke, Ichikawa Danjuro, Nakamura Shikan, Kataoka Gado, and Iwai Matsunosuke. A lively scene with expressive figures.
