Series; Sono omokage sugata no e-awase

Sono omokage sugata no e-awase - Handsome design from a rarely seen 1896 series by Nobukazu depicting the Eight Confucian Virtues. An inset at right features a historic example of the selected virtue, matched with a scene of beauties depicting a contemporary example at left. The kanji character for the virtue appears in a text panel behind the inset. Nicely detailed with fine attention to the elegant kimono and obi fabrics. Some designs include deluxe publishing techniques such as burnishing or embossing. We've only seen a couple of prints from this attractive series before.
