Drawing a Sword during an Argument, 1881

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a commoner drawing a sword during an argument with a samurai. He scowls angrily, biting his lower lip as he thrusts a dirk at the samurai. He frowns, resting his cased sword against his shoulder while the beauty behind him reacts with surprise. At left, a man waits outside a garden with an umbrella as snow falls heavily through the night sky. A colorful design with fine line work in the hair and burnishing on the black kimono collars.

Artist - Chikashige (active circa 1869 - 1882)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details.
