Visiting a Temple - Attractive scene of visitors at a temple, a man in a purple coat and bowler hat about to walk under the tall torii gate marking the entrance to the temple grounds. Another man is just leaving, holding a black umbrella over his shoulder. The building is adorned with shimenawa, lengths of braided straw rope used for purification and to indicate sacred spaces in the Shinto religion. A handsome design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Hiroshige III (1843 - 1894)

Image Size - 13" x 8 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Thinning along right edge in margin, repaired, blends well. Slight creasing and soiling, slight fraying and a few small tears at edges. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
