Musashi, Flowers of Takada, Ota Dokan and Yamabuki no koji, No. 7 - Terrific scene of the 15th century warrior Ota Dokan Sukenaga seeking refuge from a sudden rain storm at a rundown mill. The owner's daughter kneels before him, presenting him with a gift of yamabuki (yellow mountain roses) in a reference to the five-petaled mon or family crest on his garment. A wonderful view of the samurai sheltering himself under his woven hat in the driving rain, his bow in hand, as the beauty humbly offers her gift. The inset above shows the castle that Ota built on the site, the forerunner of Edo Castle, with Mt. Fuji rising in the distance. Beautiful color.
